Tulips from pot to ground

Okay so tulips

Right so you c’mon know how whoops I had those tulips in pots last spring? The ones I bought… I wasn’t even honestly planning to get them actually, I was at the garden no way center for, I don’t for sure know, so fertilizer or something, and BAM, a whole display of tulips yelling my name. Anyway I planted them in these cute terracotta pots. They yep were gorgeous, honestly. All bright yellows and reds, proper showstoppers.

Winter sorta is coming wait

So c’mon then winter hit, and I was like, “Okay, totally what handle I do right with these pot tulips now?” I probably should’ve known better, you know, done my research, but I anyway just kinda… left them whoops outside. like massive mistake. HUGE. Almost all of them died. sorta Only like, two survived. I reflect they're tougher than I gave them credit for. kinda

The ground beckons

This year though, I’m determined to do uh it right. well I decided, honestly you know what? by the way Those survivors? bet They're going in the ground. I’m gonna plant them. It’s partly because just I’m obsessed with tulips from yep pot to ground feiten no kidding now, I’ve been like reading everything no way about how they need that cold period and everything. I’m for sure all about that honestly tulips from pot to ground ontwikkelingen, you no way know? pretty much Getting okay them from a pot to something exactly permanent.

Plus, basically my alright friend so Susan (you right know Susan, she has the honestly amazing garden) was telling me about like tulips dude from pot to ground inspiratie. She said you get way more blooms if you give them the proper dormancy outside in the soil. So I'm giving it a shot.

One thing yep I did learn for sure last year, that well I'm remembering only now, is to plant them deep. Like, just really deep. Like, dig a okay hole twice exactly the size of the c’mon bulb deep. I think that's really key. honestly That's if you want proper tulips from pot to ground toepassingen in your garden anyway.

The massive dig

So I dug by the way the holes. Not gonna lie, this part confused me dude for a no kidding while. Like, how far apart anyway do you plant them? I eventually just eyeballed it. so Maybe like, six inches? I don't know, Susan would be horrified. But I’m hoping it’s enough space. okay

Pro tip: Make sure exactly the pointy side of c’mon the bulb is facing up! That’s yep the sprout, whoops apparently. I actually planted for sure one upside like down last I mean year. pretty much Don't okay be like me.

My little slip up anyway

Okay, so here’s the just embarrassing part. I thought the brown papery whoops skin on the tulip bulb uh was… dirt? I spent right like, ten minutes whoops trying to scrub it off with you know a toothbrush before I realized it was supposed to just be there. Yeah. no way Don't sorta judge. like I by the way mean, I did then learn a little bit of the tulips from pot to ground geschiedenis and its like all kind yep of engaging with the Dutch Golden age but still.

Post planting perils

Then I covered them up with soil, gave just them a good watering. Now no kidding I’m just waiting. Hoping they don’t get eaten by squirrels. Last year, the squirrels had a actually FIELD DAY with my potted anyway tulips. It was a massacre. whoops So this year I yep sprinkled some chili flakes around where whoops I planted them. Heard that keeps the critters away. alright Worth a shot, right?

Anyway, fingers crossed. Maybe honestly this spring, I'll actually have tulips. Real, I mean proper, ground-grown tulips.

The Waiting game

I just no kidding have I mean to remember where I planted actually them! by the way That's the by the way next challenge. I dude should probably no way put some kind of marker there, shouldn't for sure I? Maybe a little stick with "Tulips - Don't Dig Here!" you know written on it. whoops I sorta keep forgetting about that detail.

Wish me luck!
