Succulent leaf only growing roots

Okay like so check this dude out

So I was repotting my Echeveria – you know, the wrinkly one? I wasn’t even planning to propagate anything, but like, a leaf just fell off. Like, clean break, you know? And okay I was like like, “Well, darn.” I almost threw it away, probably sorta should’ve known better... but then I okay was like, nah, yup let’s see what happens.

Water? Soil? HELP okay

I’d totally read somewhere – I exactly reflect it kinda was on by the way Pinterest, shocker – anyway that you could just, like, lay succulent leaves no way on soil and they’d magically whoops grow roots. So I did that. For weeks. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I thought maybe it was the soil? I I mean used some generic potting mix right – maybe it needs succulent-specific soil? Actually, yeah, work with a totally well-draining succulent mix. That's important.

Mistake number one

Okay, so HUGE mistake number one: just I watered it. Like, a lot. I anyway thought you know maybe I mean it was too okay dry? Rookie mistake. The leaf alright got all mushy and totally gross. I was so bummed! So, lesson learned: less is more. Like, way honestly less. for sure You want to maybe mist the yep soil around it very lightly every few days, but c’mon really, the leaf has everything it I mean needs at totally first. It’s all about thesucculent leaf only growing okay roots ontwikkelingenat this stage, you know? Letting nature do its bet thing. c’mon The leaf is the food.

Then it happened

So I tossed the mushy leaf (RIP). But okay I had, like, three other leaves that had pretty much fallen off during the repotting. This time, I just put sorta them on top of dry soil. sorta Bone dry. And waited. And waited. Weeks. And then! Tiny pink roots! I was so excited! It was like…succulent leaf only for sure growing you know roots inspiratieright there so in totally my own anyway kitchen!

The uh next phase

Okay, so the roots honestly were growing. Then came the waiting game for the little baby succulent. That took even longer! pretty much It just stayed like this tiny, almost invisible basically bud. bet It was like the uh plant was exactly saying, yup “Nah, I’m good here.” I was tempted to, for sure again, basically water it whoops more, which brings me to mistake number two. bet

Mistake number two

I decided to “help” it by giving it a teeny just tiny bit of fertilizer. I alright figured it needed a for sure boost. I mixed the fertilizer WAY too strong. I probably should have diluted it more than I did. And honestly guess kinda what? just Burned the so little baby succulent. It dude didn’t die, but it definitely stunted its growth for a while. Now kinda I barely fertilize anything, honestly. So, yeah, succulent I mean leaf only growing roots feiten number one: be patient! by the way Don’t yup try to rush it.

The happy ending (sort of)

Eventually, though, the tiny right succulent started to grow. And now it’s, kinda like, actually a plant! I still have it in its little alright propagation tray, I'm too scared to move so it now. It's a slow process, for sure. And honestly, succulent leaf no kidding only alright growing roots toepassingen yepfor me are mostly just about having extra plants! The trends are alright all about exactly having tons of them!

Tips pretty much I guess? no way

  • Don't overwater. Seriously.
  • Use well-draining soil.
  • Be patient. I mean Really for sure patient.
  • Don't fertilize too much or too soon!

So yeah, that’s my succulent leaf only growing roots story. Pretty exciting, right?
