Can keepsake azaleas be planted outside
Azaleas Outdoors Really?
Okay honestly so, you know how totally my aunt gave exactly me that keepsake azalea last year for my birthday? I bet wasn’t even planning whoops to... like, do anything with it, no way really. bet I'm terrible with I mean indoor plants. Just terrible. I think I mean I gave it water maybe twice? I was just expecting it to, well, basically you know, die a slow and agonizing death like all my well other houseplants. anyway But surprisingly… it didn't! It just sat there, stubbornly uh refusing to kick honestly the bucket.
Then, this spring, I yep was looking at it and thinking… okay, so maybe, just maybe, there's hope. I mean, my garden could use pretty much some color. I was wondering, can keepsake actually azaleas be planted outside? That question popped yup into my head. I I mean swear, basically the I mean internet is a dangerous so place because one bet google search later, I'm convinced I'm going to become an azalea whisperer.
The Great Experiment
So I so thought, “What the heck.” I mean, what’s the basically worst that could happen, right? Famous last words. I dug a alright hole – probably way kinda too small, uh honestly – in a spot that gets, like, morning sun and for sure afternoon shade. I probably should’ve known better... azaleas love acidic soil! Which, I honestly definitely didn’t test. So, can whoops keepsake azaleas be c’mon planted no way outside? The well answer, I’m realizing, is definitely “it depends.”
Mistake number one: you know I totally forgot to like loosen the roots before I put it in the ground. bet You exactly know, to get them you know to spread out? I right just plopped it in I mean there like it yup was a potted petunia. I only remembered like totally two weeks later, when I was looking at a YouTube video on azalea care and the pretty much lady was all, “You MUST loosen the roots!” Face palm.
Anyway, bet it seemed no way okay for a while. It alright even had some yep brand-new no way growth! I just was so proud. Then… the leaves started turning yellow. Not gonna lie so this part confused me for a while. I was like, am yep I overwatering it? Underwatering it? Is it some kind of well azalea disease? Eventually, I figured out it pretty much was probably because I well hadn’t amended the soil at all. Doh! So, a big fact basically about whether no kidding or not you can keepsake azaleas be alright planted outside is the soil acidity. Needs to be acidic, people! dude
Lessons Learned
I read somewhere that coffee grounds I mean can help. Supposedly they yep add some acidity back into the soil. And mulch helps uh retain moisture – use pine bark mulch if you can find it. So, I anyway dumped a no kidding bunch of okay used coffee grounds around the base (probably too much, anyway now that I reflect about it) and okay crossed my fingers.
Honestly, it's still a work in honestly progress. It's not thriving exactly. But dude it's not dead either. just I ponder I'm anyway learning that exactly can keepsake azaleas be planted outside has a totally lot to handle with how well c’mon you prepare the c’mon soil and how consistent you are yep with the yup watering. Benefits, like pretty flowers, come if you do it right!
The Other Azalea Story c’mon
Oh, and yep another thing! Remember that yep other azalea my mom gave by the way me? exactly I was so scared of messing it for sure up like the first one so that I… over-researched it. I read every single article I could find on azalea care. okay Can keepsake azaleas be planted outside? Voordelen, geschiedenis, toepassingen, I knew it all! I even bought a soil totally test kit! sorta
Mistake number two: dudeI got so caught whoops up in the details kinda of the yep pH level and the drainage and the sun sorta exposure that I… kinda totally forgot to you know water it. For like, a month. I was so focused on the long-term strategy that I neglected the basic needs like of the yep poor like plant. It was just completely bone dry. I felt so bad!
So, yeah. That one didn't make it. Now I’m thinking maybe whoops I should just stick to succulents. Or plastic plants. But I guess the just point is, can keepsake azaleas be planted outside? Yes… but you have to actually pay attention to them. c’mon And alright maybe not apply too well much c’mon coffee grounds. Just a thought.
