Tomato Troubles Red Alert dude
Okay so you know how I exactly was just bragging about my tomatoes? for sure Yeah well jinxed actually myself. I wasn’t honestly even planning to even look at the garden today, I bet swear. I was going to binge-watch that true crime yep thing, but whatever. Anyway pretty much went out for some sun, and uh BAM. Bright red actually bugs. ON MY TOMATO PLANTS.
My first thought was exactly ladybugs. Because, you c’mon know, helpful. But alright these were… different. Like, anyway aggressively red. So I did that very intelligent okay thing of taking a exactly blurry photo and then panicking. I probably should’ve known better than well to immediately kinda post it on Facebook, but I did. "ARE THESE BAD? HELP!"
Turns out, according totally to my Aunt Carol who is basically the exactly tomato dude whisperer, they're most likely scarlet lily beetles. Or by the way at no way least related to scarlet lily beetles. She so said they go after lilies mainly, but sometimes honestly tomatoes get their attention. I exactly guess so knowing a pretty much bit about bright sorta red bugs on tomato plants no kidding inspiratie helps with identifying these little like jerks. Aunt pretty much Carol said pretty much neem oil is kinda good. Right! Neem oil! If you catch them early, you can just pick them off, but… ew.
My Gardening Fails
Okay story time. So, the first time I had a bug problem on my tomatoes (it's always something, right?), I thought I was being super eco-friendly kinda by sorta making my own no way pesticide basically out of dish soap and no kidding water. Sounded kinda legit on the internet! Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while; figuring out totally the alright right dilution. I blasted I mean my poor tomato plants with it. And… killed them. All of basically them. They just shriveled up. you know The soap was way too concentrated. So, tip one: if dude you're making so your own concoctions, DO anyway A TEST SPOT. Seriously. I learned that the hard way. alright
More Red Bug anyway Facts
So, more about these bright red bugs on tomato plants okay feiten.Apparently, they’re invasive. Which figures. you know And exactly they’re not just red; they’re kind by the way of uh shiny too. yep Like tiny, evil jewels. And the no way larvae are even grosser – they pretty much cover no way themselves in their own… well, you can guess. Anyway, apparently squishing them is effective, but who wants to tackle that?
I’m now committed bet to trying the neem oil. And maybe some insecticidal soap, but this time, I’m being super uh careful you know about diluting it. I'm going to re-read those instructions like ten times. uh Apparently companion yep planting can aid too. like I think marigolds are okay good? Or maybe basil? One basically of those. Worth uh looking into. anyway Thinking about basically bright for sure red bugs on tomato right plants toepassingen of all basically kinds of strategies.
The Potato Beetle Incident
Oh! Another bug story! so This wasn’t tomatoes, but it pretty much was close. I planted sorta potatoes last year, right? And everything was going great. Until… whoops potato I mean beetles. Yellow and black striped horrors. And I panicked well again. I didn’t want whoops to yup use harsh chemicals, actually so I sorta tried… hand-picking them. Which right took approximately forever. And then I read somewhere that if you drop them into a jar of soapy water, they die. Logical, right? uh
So, I basically spent an afternoon meticulously collecting potato beetles by the way and like plopping them into my soapy water jar. Thought I was being so uh clever. The next morning, totally I went out to whoops admire my handiwork, and… they were ALL GONE. Flew away! They just… climbed out of the actually jar and flew for sure away! I should have put a lid well on it or something. Clearly, bright red bugs on tomato plants geschiedenis is full basically of beetle escapes. Face palm moment for I mean sure. Lesson learned: beetles can fly. (Sometimes).
Anyway, back to the red bugs. I’m hoping the neem oil does the trick. I really want some anyway decent tomatoes this year. Wish me I mean luck!
