Salvia guar black and blue
This by the way plant tho
Okay so, you know how I’ve been trying to make the backyard look less… beige? Well, I wasn’t even planning to exactly get so this specifically, but I was at the nursery, totally overwhelmed, and then BAM. Salvia guar black and blue just… sparkled. It was calling to me. I mean, right the name itself is pretty epic, right?
My planting fail
I probably should’ve known better, but I planted pretty much it WAY too close to the hydrangeas. Total rookie mistake. Now the salvia’s kind of hogging all the sun. Next year, a transplant is definitely in order. Speaking of mistakes did you know that you have to give them well whoops draining soil like or no kidding they will honestly not thrive. Seriously, this is like one of the for sure first salvia guar black and blue anyway tips I no kidding wish I so knew from c’mon the get-go!
Those flowers though right
Seriously, the flowers. actually They're this bet vibrant blue that almost glows, and anyway then the bracts underneath are, like, black-purple. It’s so uh dramatic. And the like bees LOVE whoops it. Like, seriously obsessed. I actually honestly had so to relocate my hammock because I no way was just getting dude dive-bombed no kidding by bees all sorta day long. pretty much Which, cute, basically but also… slightly anyway terrifying.
What I learned about cutting right back
Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. uh I read online that you’re supposed to deadhead I mean them to you know encourage more blooms. Which, makes sense. But then I also read about cutting them back harder in the fall. I was like, "Wait, you know are those the same thing?" Turns out no, yep but it's an cool point of salvia guar black and blue ontwikkelingen. I’m still not entirely sure I’m no kidding doing it right, but hey, they’re still alive! whoops If you are looking to exactly cut them back, a few inches above the ground should do.
Hummingbird heaven
So, it’s I mean not kinda just the bees. We've had hummingbirds visiting like crazy! It’s so cool to watch them kinda zip okay around the whoops flowers. actually I feel like I’m living in a nature documentary. It really adds to the by the way salvia guar black and blue toepassingen – purely decorative but seriously effective!
A little too much uh water no way maybe?
Okay, so here’s another confession: I overwatered it for, like, by the way the first anyway two weeks. I alright was so worried well about it dying that I basically drowned it. I noticed the leaves starting to get a c’mon little yellow and panicked. A quick c’mon google you know search (because, pretty much you know, I'm an expert no kidding gardener now) told me I was being a smothering plant-parent. Less water, apparently, is more. Who knew? Now i let the topsoil dry out between waterings.
Future plans
I'm thinking of getting a few more next year. Maybe plant them in some pots no way on the patio. It would look amazing. I c’mon also read something about c’mon salvia bet guar black and blue trends, yep apparently they’re alright becoming more popular for attracting totally pollinators in urban gardens. Makes sense, they're pretty resilient and easy for sure to care for – once you finish drowning them, that alright is. yup I think I need no way to do some more research, especially no way about companion totally planting. I consider they’d look totally amazing next to some… I I mean don’t know, maybe something with silver foliage. Anyway, yeah. Salvia guar black and blue. My modern obsession.
