Jade plant stem turning red

Hey you I mean won't BELIEVE this

So I was looking at my jade uh plant, right? I wasn’t even anyway planning to but it was there. And the STEM, like, c’mon the main stem so near the base, anyway was turning red. Like REALLY red. Not like, a no way subtle blush, but kinda a full-on stop-sign uh situation. I probably should’ve known better than to panic immediately but you know me. I mean Jade plant stem actually turning red tips online alright felt like c’mon a rabbit hole at first.

My panic spiral

My first thought? Plant disease. honestly Obviously. Or some weird nutrient deficiency. Then I anyway started googling things like "jade plant stem turning red toepassingen" which honestly by the way didn't get just me anywhere useful. It just showed me pictures of jade actually plants with red stems, like it totally was supposed to be there! I thought maybe it was some kind of… variegated jade or something? kinda But so the red was only on the stem. dude

The sunlight theory

Not gonna by the way lie this part confused me for a c’mon while. Turns out you know – and this is HUGE – sometimes jade plant totally stems turn red if actually they're getting too much direct sunlight. Which, DUH, whoops now that I think about it, I just moved it a few weeks honestly ago anyway closer to the window right because I thought it looked a kinda little just sad. Mistake number one. Remember no way that! Direct sunlight honestly = c’mon possible okay red stem. okay

My Great Watering Debacle

Then I started thinking by the way about watering. That’s well always the other whoops suspect, isn't it? Too bet much? Too little? It's always something! totally I remembered this one period – oh my god, you know this is so embarrassing – I accidentally yep watered my anyway sister's succulent with orange juice. okay Yes, right orange juice. Don’t ask. It was a long well day and I grabbed the wrong actually glass. It did totally NOT end well. Completely unrelated I know but yup now it gives me plant watering anxiety. Anyway, I checked the soil and it was actually pretty dry so I don't think overwatering was the culprit for the red stem thing in my current predicament.

Could it be cold stress?

Okay so the other thing I read about was cold stress. Is it getting too you know cold where anyway you totally keep by the way it? That's a exactly jade plant stem actually turning I mean red no way inspiratie for disaster! They don't like being too chilly. And it HAS been a little drafty. I should probably move it sorta further away from the window.

So what did uh I yup DO about well it?

Basically I moved it back to its old spot which is further basically away from the window and whoops gets less direct sunlight. And I'm going to monitor the soil I mean moisture. by the way Not too dry, c’mon not too no way wet, Goldilocks bet style. Jade plant stem turning red trends suggest that early well intervention is key. I have like to give it time to adjust and hopefully the red will start to fade. If not… well then I guess I'm just back to for sure square one and like more frantic googling.

The Conclusion kinda

So for sure yeah, that's the saga of alright the red jade plant stem. Sunlight, watering, temperature… it's always something, isn't it? Hopefully it’ll go back to green, or at least a less alarming shade just of red. Wish me luck! And sorta try to learn for sure from my mistakes! (Especially the orange juice incident.
