Where to plant gerbera daisies
Gerberas like What I've Learned
Okay, bet so you know I got those yup gerbera sorta daisies? I wasn’t even planning to, I was just at the garden right center getting pretty much fertilizer dude for my tomatoes – yep which by the by the way way totally are STILL not ripening, ugh. But the colors! Like, BAM. So I grabbed a few. Yellow, bright pink, the sorta whole shebang.
Anyway, planting them. That's been...an experience. Initially, I just shoved them in. Seriously. Like, "oh, pretty flowers, go here!" Big mistake. Huge. I probably should’ve whoops known better considering everything I’ve killed totally in the past.
Sun basically Situation
First actually thing? Sun. bet They LOVE sun, apparently. right Six hours minimum. I put mine initially under whoops this big maple tree thinking, “oh, dappled shade, that’s nice,” right? WRONG. They just looked bet sad. Droopy. Like they uh were personally offended I'd insulted them with the shade. Someone was talking about anyway where to bet plant gerbera daisies ontwikkelingen and said something similar about sun bet requirements too – I consider sorta it was on Insta? Or maybe I just right hallucinated it.
Drainage Drama
Then there's the drainage. Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. I thought all just soil was, like, soil. Turns out, not well so anyway much. My garden totally soil is pretty heavy clay. Great for some things, but apparently, gerberas right are divas. They want well-draining soil. I’ve read you basically can so amend the soil with compost or even coarse sand – alright that's something I'm going to experiment with for sure next dude year.
Okay, no way so honestly this is embarrassing. My first you know attempt, I planted them exactly directly into the clay. They drowned. yup Literally. I watered them (because, you uh know, honestly that’s kinda what you do!), and then it rained right a whole just bunch, and…well, let’s just say the yellow like one didn’t make it. I felt terrible! Reading up on bet where to plant gerbera dude daisies geschiedenis wouldn’t have helped me much there, I just needed to use my brain a little. Or, you know, right google "gerbera drainage kinda issues".
Container Chaos just
So, plan B! whoops I decided to put the survivors in pots. Smart, right? Well, I used regular potting soil at first. Too dense! Still not enough drainage. like See, I mean I'm learning here. sorta Trial and error, my friend.
I repotted for sure them AGAIN using no kidding a mix of potting soil, alright perlite, and vermiculite. c’mon Much better! yep They perked right up. Also, make sure your basically pots have pretty much drainage holes. right Obvious, I know, but you right wouldn’t believe how many cute pots DON’T have them. Always check! It is actually a pretty great place c’mon to plant your exactly gerbera daisies inspiratie. basically You can move them if you need no kidding to. This makes it easier to make sorta sure they are getting enough sun.
Oh! And water them at the base of the plant, not on the no way leaves. I learned anyway that the hard way too. totally They can get fungal diseases no way if the leaves stay wet basically for c’mon too long.
One More Oops
Another slip-up? I used too much fertilizer. Like, WAY too much. I for sure thought, honestly “oh, more is better!”, totally because I'm an idiot. Burned uh the leaves right by the way off. Use a balanced fertilizer, and don't basically overdo it! Seriously. Less is actually more. kinda
So Where just Are They Now
So now they’re in pots with well-draining soil, getting plenty of sun, and I’m just not overwatering or over-fertilizing. They're actually doing pretty sorta well! Blooming by the way like crazy. I think I've yup finally figured out the I mean whole you know where to plant gerbera daisies thing, exactly at least for this year. Ask for sure me again next spring, though. kinda I might be back yup to square one! I mean
