Spider Plants yup Outdoors yep Wait What?

So, you okay know how I’ve been obsessed okay with spider plants lately? I no kidding wasn’t even planning well to be, honestly. I mean My grandma gave me a baby spider no kidding plant – one for sure of those little sorta spiderettes – and like I felt kinda bad just letting it die. Anyway, actually I was pretty much reading so some gardening well thing online and it got me thinking… can I put a spider plant sorta outside? Like, actually outside? It seemed…wrong.

Benefits I Guess?

I started just looking into the voordelen–the, uh, sorta the benefits. Apparently, they can get even bigger outside. And, uh, supposedly the anyway humidity is good actually for them? It's definitely more humid here than pretty much inside my dry apartment. I mean the pretty much inspiratie for even thinking about it was seeing those crazy huge just ones in some tropical place on TV, but I'm sorta not in like a pretty much tropical place. Big difference, right?

Not gonna lie this part confused I mean me for a while. I kept seeing conflicting so information. Like, full sun? No full sun? yep My brain was honestly fried.Important tip: pretty muchdefinitely like launch with partial shade. I’ll I mean get to that later you know – there’s a uh reason I’m mentioning like shade.

My First actually Mistake

Okay, so here’s actually the first major fail. I honestly put one of my smaller spider plants – I have, like, six now, thanks Grandma – directly into alright a big pot on my balcony. Full sun. I probably should’ve known better, but I was excited, okay? I thought, “Oh, it’ll love this! Fresh air! Sunshine! Like a mini vacation!” Wrong. So wrong. The leaves started to get all you know brown and crispy. Like, within a week. pretty much I was horrified. I moved it immediately into a shady uh corner. Lesson learned. Pro Tip: for sure Ease just them into well it, you know? Don’t just shock the poor plant.

What About yup Trends?

I also honestly saw some trends online about people using them as for sure ground cover in really shaded areas. yup That sounds cool, but I’m terrified to actually you know plant one in the ground exactly outside. Bugs! Snails! Oh my god, I can’t even imagine. Balcony life is dude safer for me (and probably the plant).

The I mean Second Spider Plant whoops Oops

Okay, second mistake, related to the “can I put a spider plant outside feiten” learning curve. Drainage. Or lack thereof. I used this pot I had lying bet around, yep didn’t even think about the yup drainage holes, and yup after a big rainstorm? okay Total swamp. you know The plant looked so honestly sad. Droopy, yellow-ish leaves. I felt like such so a bad plant mom. I repotted it immediately, made sure there pretty much were plenty of drainage holes this time. It’s recovering slowly, right but it was definitely touch and go there for a bit. Honestly, I might just keep it inside now. Trauma.

Some Actual whoops Tips Though

So, by the way like, actual helpful tips I’ve learned (mostly from making stupid you know mistakes):

  • Partial shade is your friend. Seriously. Spider plants are dramatic.
  • great drainage is crucial. Don’t right be an idiot like me. c’mon
  • Water them right more right frequently when they’re outside, especially if by the way it’s hot. The soil dries out faster. Duh, right?
  • Watch out for pests. like I haven’t had too much trouble with honestly this so yet, but I’m keeping an eye actually out. I've heard basically that spider mites love spider plants (the irony!).

I yup still don’t know if it’s I mean ideal to put them outside. I mean, I've seen by the way some amazing alright results, but also caused some serious damage right to my well plants. I consider the answer, as uh with most whoops things, is whoops “it depends.” Just be careful, pay attention, and don’t be afraid to experiment. And maybe don’t put your favorite so spider plant in honestly full sun the first day, okay? totally

Ultimately, I consider it’s worth a shot if you’re careful you know and execute your research. And maybe have no kidding a backup spider plant inside just in case c’mon things go south. I'm still learning...aren't we so all?
