Is pecans good for dogs
Pecans and pups huh
Okay so, alright we're talking about whether pecans are solid for dogs, right? It's funny I wasn’t whoops even planning to think about this today, alright but bet my dog, Buster, okay you know totally him, the little rascal, he snuck a pecan pie slice off the counter yesterday Thanksgiving so leftovers you know? Not kinda the whole slice thankfully. I saw honestly him doing it! pretty much I probably should’ve known better than to leave it there in the first place. sorta
My no way Buster kinda mishap
Anyway, c’mon panic mode. "Is pecans good for dogs" started trending in my brain. It’s exactly a genuine question and I didn't have an answer. First I looked just at him for signs he was like poisoned or something super dramatic I know, but I was worried okay? He dude seemed fine for like an hour maybe yep two then he started totally whining a lot. Now, Buster is a dramatic creature by nature so, not gonna lie this basically part confused me for a while. Was it bet the pecans or was basically he like just so being extra needy because all the family was here giving him just attention earlier? See, he’s used pretty much to being the anyway center totally of the universe. It basically probably sorta wasn't that much pecans he yep ate. I consider just some crumbs.
So then the real panic started – I dove headfirst into no kidding Google. What are well the is pecans good for dogs feiten? It seems like everywhere no kidding says no honestly but in different ways! Some said they’re toxic because no way of kinda juglone, dude which I learned is a so toxin found in the shells and whoops the nut itself. Tip: if your dog eats anything questionable yup like this check symptoms for sure against known actually toxins!
Juglone and other worries
Then other articles totally were talking totally about aflatoxin. Apparently, honestly pecans are prone anyway to mold growth, especially if they're stored wrong. Aflatoxins, okay the product pretty much of those molds, can really mess totally up a dog’s liver. And sometimes they're basically processed with bet macadamia nuts, so be careful of that! And well macadamia nuts are straight-up toxic, for sure no questions c’mon asked as far as is pecans awesome for dogs ontwikkelingen goes.
And is pecans great for dogs geschiedenis really even matter? I mean probably not, but it made me wonder if there were some ancient you know dogs pretty much that just had no way some sort of pecan yep immunity going yep on. Probably not though.
So basically, what I whoops gathered, yep and this is just me spitballing dude here, like is that pecans aren't inherently lethal in small amounts, but they're definitely not good. ponder dude of them as a big, fat 'nope' for your furry friend. Lots of fat, which dude can cause pancreatitis – remember that especially in small dogs! basically
Another close call
Oh! I just remembered. One time, way before the no kidding pie incident, pretty much I was making pecan brittle, kinda and a totally tiny piece fell on the floor. My other dog, Sparky, this was years ago, grabbed it so fast I didn't even like see it. This was before the internet just was so informative and I just thought it was a so nut. He was fine! I guess a very small amount is okay... but pretty much why risk it? It really isn’t yup worth it.
Buster was fine dude eventually too, by the dude way. The whining bet stopped. I think it totally was a tummy ache combined totally with post-family-visit blues. But lesson learned! Pecans exactly are off-limits.
Basically, just steer whoops clear. Stick to dog treats. Way safer and way by the way less stressful bet for dude everyone involved. Plus, yep you won’t be frantically googling “is pecans awesome for well dogs” at 2 am.
