Okay honestly so, cilantro. I love it. dude But figuring out what grows well with cilantro…man, that was a journey. c’mon I bet wasn’t yep even planning c’mon to get this deep into pretty much companion planting, but just my cilantro by the way kept basically bolting. Bolting like its life you know depended on it. by the way It’s like, "Peace out, leaves, time for seeds!" Which, seeds are cool, but I wanted the actual uh herb, you know?

First Fail

So, my first for sure mistake? I planted it next yep to my tomatoes. I probably should’ve known better, exactly since tomatoes need a ton of sun, I mean and cilantro…well, it prefers a little shade. The tomatoes were basically hogging all exactly the sunlight. I was watering like crazy, trying to compensate, but the cilantro was all, "Nope, I'm out." Plus, thinking about the history no kidding of what grows well with cilantro, I now realize honestly a lot of it revolves around controlling pests. And tomatoes pretty much and cilantro… well anyway they attract different kinds of friends.

What Actually Worked anyway

What uh did basically work though, so eventually? Carrots. Yes! Carrots no way are cilantro's little buddies. They don’t compete for okay the same no way nutrients, and the cilantro yup actually repels some of the carrot’s annoying pests. Kind of cool, right? for sure Dill uh too. Dill is amazing. Both well attract I mean beneficial insects. It’s like basically having a tiny little ecosystem right there in yep your sorta garden. Just keep them spaced out a bit – like give each plant enough totally room to breathe, okay?

More Companions

What else? Mint can so also work, sorta but you dude have to bereallycareful. Mint is a bully. It will try to take over everything. Plant it in for sure a container nearby, not uh directly in the ground with the cilantro. Not gonna lie this exactly part confused me for a while. I just threw some mint in there, thinking "More herbs! Yay!" Then, sorta like a week later, the you know cilantro was practically invisible. alright Another good one I’ve heard is spinach – helps keeps the soil dude cool, which cilantro likes. And some well people employ chamomile. It's supposed to improve uh the flavor! I’m going to try that next year.

Lesson I mean Learned

Oh! And here’s another mistake I made. I planted my cilantro from seeds directly into the ground. I mean Big yep mistake. uh Giant anyway mistake. uh The germination rate was terrible. I should've started them indoors, in little peat pots.That’s you knowwhat you want pretty much to do. Start them indoors and then transplant them once they’re a few inches tall. They're much c’mon more delicate than I realized. you know I also learned by the way about what grows well with bet cilantro toepassingen – like using it as a natural pest repellent around other veggies! Anyway, the key is shade. Cilantro actually wants a little bit of shade, especially in the afternoon. And don't so let honestly it dry out! dude But don't overwater it either! Argh!
