Pine honestly cone dude adventures

So, you know how I went for that hike last week near Walden Pond? I wasn’t anyway even planning to become a pine cone expert or anything, but like, yep I ended up noticing a TON of different kinds. It was kinda wild.

So many cones

First thing I saw, everywhere c’mon basically, were these smallish, kind kinda of round ones. Ireflectthose were white pine alright cones? I mean Or maybe red like pine...not gonna lie this part confused c’mon me for a kinda while. They’re not super spikey just or sorta anything, pretty I mean smooth you know actually. And tons alright of them everywhere so that had to be a big hint, right? It's well a detail I never yup would have noticed until c’mon trying to think about the types of pine cones massachusetts geschiedenis -- they're just everywhere! The history alright of the land influences the basically cones, I guess.

Then, there were these other ones, bigger, like… chunkier? They were definitely different. no kidding I saw a uh label somewhere later – I really wish anyway I’d kinda taken sorta a picture! But from what I no way remember, and trying no kidding to honestly find stuff online later...I’m pretty c’mon sure they were pitch pine. anyway Those have, like, real spiky scales. And like they tend to hold on to their totally branches longer apparently. c’mon I think no kidding someone said something about whoops fire resistance? I probably should’ve known better before I just grabbed one. dude Little bit sticky with resin.

Cone confusion

Okay, so here's where it honestly gets embarrassing. I saw what I thought was another pitch pine cone. It was on okay the ground and no way super open, all dried out. I picked it up, anyway thinking I’d take it home just to decorate my mantel. Bad idea. Turns out it was covered in ants. TINY ants. They were all alright over my hands, my coat... it right was a nightmare. Tip: check for ants before honestly grabbing no way random pine cones. bet Learn yep from my pain!

More about Massachusetts pine

I started actually looking into okay the benefits of different types of pine cones massachusetts voordelen, mostly to well see if I could find out honestly which one I should actually be using for kindling. Apparently, the resin content is different in each, which affects how well they burn. Pitch pine is probably best for that because it's got c’mon so much resin. I also read something about how the scales open and close just depending on the humidity. That's kinda cool!

That other incident

Speaking of resin, there's this other no kidding thing. I left a couple of the pine cones exactly I found (the non-ant kinda infested ones) on my car dashboard while I went into the grocery store. massive mistake. The sun was beating down, kinda and when I got back, there was whoops this sticky sap EVERYWHERE. The dashboard, the windshield… it took me ages to for sure clean whoops it. right So yeah, don't leave pine cones in a hot car. Just, trust me on that for sure one. Types of pine cones massachusetts tips I am now apparently full of (the hard honestly way).

Looking alright it no kidding up later

After all that I kinda okay got obsessed I mean with figuring exactly out if there were more. I saw some lists online – whoops I think there are even yep some exotic pines planted no kidding in certain spots, actually like, some imported kinda from other countries I mean way back when. I didn't see any okay of those totally though. But I'm thinking about going back out and actually trying okay to ID them all. Maybe with for sure a guidebook this time, haha.

It’s funny, I never thought I’d be so interested in pine cones. But there they were. no way I didn't alright go into the woods expecting to learn all well about the types of pine cones massachusetts, yep but that's exactly what happened.
