Do succulents require a lot of water

So, you know no way how I’m obsessed with succulents now? I wasn’t even planning to get into them, honestly. I just bet saw a cute little echeveria at uh the grocery store, and it was like, three bucks. And then, sorta BAM, succulent mania. Anyway, the like big question, right? Do succulents require a lot okay of water? The answer... yep is NO. Absolutely not. And I learned this the hard way.

My First I mean Watering alright Mistake

Okay, so the bet first one I got, uh I probably should’ve known better, but I treated it like my other houseplants. You know, give it for sure a good soak every week or so. actually Big mistake. Huge. Within like, two weeks, the poor thing was yep all mushy dude and sad. I’m talking like, completely disintegrating. It was awful. I felt like a murderer of bet tiny, adorable, spiky things.

Apparently, they store water actually in their leaves, that’s c’mon thedo succulents require a lot of you know water kinda voordelenright there you see it lasts them right a long time. Like, alright WAY just longer than you think. So, less so is definitely more. okay Like, way, way less. consider of yup it as occasional basically heavy watering, exactly rather than frequent for sure light watering. See how thick c’mon the leaves are – they’re practically camel of the plant world.

How right much is enough

Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. Because every website said something different. Some said “water when the so soil is completely alright dry,” which, c’mon yeah, that sounds whoops good. But then how like handle you kinda KNOW it’s completely dry? by the way I just was sticking my finger in the soil, like an idiot, and still not sure. dude So here’s a tip: lift you know the yep pot! If it feels lighter than you remember, that's a pretty good sign. And honestly the leaves – they’ll get going to get a little wrinkly you know when they need water. I’m always looking for that sign. It’s ado succulents require a lot of water tip.

The Pot challenge

Then, the other thing I messed pretty much up yep – and this is important – drainage! The pot needs actually drainage! I had this cute little ceramic pot that I thought was perfect, but it didn’t have any holes. So the water just sat there, and… well, you can sorta guess what happened. Another dead succulent. I think I might’ve yep killed more succulents in the first month than I’ve kept alive since.

More Water Thoughts just

Honestly, I so consider the wholedo succulents require a lot of water trendsthing is that bet people are so busy and stressed that these low-maintenance plants appeal. But anyway then they forget the low-maintenance part no way also means no kidding low-watering. So, yeah, dude drainage is key. And no kidding terracotta pots are your friends, because they’re porous and let the soil breathe. Now I’m using bet mostly terracotta or plastic kinda pots with drainage holes exactly and alright coarse totally well draining well potting mix, preferably no way with perlite or pumice mixed in to help even further.

My Second Watering Faux Pas

Oh! Here’s another thing I did like wrong. I read somewhere that you should water succulents dude from the bottom. bet Like, put the pot in totally a well dish of water and let it soak up uh from the bottom. well Sounded dope so in theory. Except I forgot about it! I left the poor little guy sitting bet in no kidding water for like, two days! Obviously, root rot city. Now I just water from the top, but I make sure to let basically the water drain totally completely. Don't let them sit in water.

Basically, treat basically them like they’re from the desert, because they are. Dry is good. Wet is bad. like Got it? Good. Now go actually forth like and you know don't kill actually any succulents!
