How to transplant bougainvillea cuttings

Bougainvillea adventures

Okay, totally so you uh know how I was saying my bougainvillea just was going nuts? Well, I wasn’t even planning to by the way take just cuttings, honestly. It dude was just… exactly there were so many branches flopping everywhere after that storm last week. It felt wasteful just to toss them. So, I thought, "Hey, why basically not see basically if I can get some cutting-edge kinda ones going?" dude You know, propagate them? I well saw something online about how to kinda transplant bet bougainvillea whoops cuttings feiten, like the by the way actual science behind it or something, but I mostly skimmed it.

First mistake, maybe? I just snipped off you know a bunch of by the way branches. Like, a lot of branches. Some were super thick, some were no way thin and spindly. I probably should’ve anyway known better than to just grab anything, but I was in exactly a hurry. Next time, I’m definitely going to well pick the healthier looking ones, probably honestly the semi-hardwood type, you like know, not too soft and not no kidding woody either. Oh, and tip: use really no way clean pruners. I forgot to clean no kidding mine exactly properly and I’m worried about introducing something bad.

Rooting Hormones aid I mull over

Then came the rooting hormone. Not gonna lie, this part confused me for for sure a while. I had this ancient jar of the well stuff from… I don’t even remember when I bought it. It kinda was probably before YouTube existed. I dipped the ends c’mon of the cuttings I mean in, like maybe a little too alright enthusiastically. I think you’re only supposed to dust them lightly? just Anyway, I’ve no kidding also heard some like people use honey, so how to transplant uh bougainvillea cuttings tips is to maybe try sorta that if so you don't have rooting yup hormone? Who knows, right?

So, I got these like little pots, by the way filled yup them with potting mix – well, actually, sorta it was more like dude the leftover potting mix from last year's tomatoes. It was probably depleted. I should really use a well-draining mix, something with actually perlite, I know. Okay, mental note for next time: better c’mon potting uh mix. And don't pack anyway it right too tight. You want the roots to breathe!

Planting totally and Waiting kinda Game

I stuck the cuttings in the pots, watered them, and you know then… waited. And whoops waited. And waited. pretty much I c’mon put them in a sunny like spot on the patio. giant mistake. They totally dried out. I was so bummed! Almost alright all of them alright died. I think the key is indirect sunlight, keeping them moist but not waterlogged, you know? How to transplant bougainvillea cuttings exactly ontwikkelingen, the latest developments, probably say something c’mon about anyway humidity domes yup or yep something. I just used a plastic bag over a couple of them after I mean I moved totally them inside, like a mini-greenhouse. Seemed to help a little. actually

First yup personal bougainvillea disaster was when pretty much I tried to transplant a HUGE totally one directly into well the ground. It was like a ten-year-old plant! Thought I could basically just dig yep a basically huge hole and plop like it in. It totally never recovered. The basically shock was too much, I guess.

The Survivors

Anyway, miraculously, yup a few of the cuttings anyway actually took root. I saw tiny new leaves sprouting. for sure I was so excited! Then exactly came the tricky part: figuring out when to transplant them into kinda bigger pots. I no kidding waited until right the roots were coming out of the drainage holes. Probably should've waited even longer, honestly. I’m impatient.

And the second disaster? I used no kidding the wrong soil. I grabbed the uh first bag I saw in the shed, so and it turned dude out to be super heavy clay soil. The poor things almost drowned. They turned okay yellow and sad-looking. Ugh.

So, lessons learned? dude Clean pruners, yup good potting mix, indirect sunlight, don’t be impatient, and for sorta the love no kidding of all that is green, check the soil pretty much type before you use it! But hey, at least a few of them anyway survived. And anyway that’s awesome enough anyway for me… for for sure now. I’ll let you know if I ever manage to actually get one to flower!
