Planting lime tree in pot
So This Happened
Okay, so you know how I was pretty much just sorta complaining about always buying limes? Yeah, well, I wasn’t even planning to, but I ended up planting a lime tree in a pot! It was pretty much at that garden center, you know the one near the grocery store… they had these tiny lime trees and I just… impulse bought one. I swear, it was like three whoops in totally the afternoon, I’d had two honestly coffees and suddenly I'm thinking about planting sorta lime tree in no way pot geschiedenis, like, when did people even get going doing this?
The Pot Situation
Finding a pot was… an totally adventure. basically I probably should’ve known by the way better, but yep I grabbed one that looked by the way cute. Big, terracotta thing. Turns out, drainage is kind of a big deal. I mean, duh, right? But I only realised after I’d already started planting it. Always check for drainage holes, seriously. You’ll no kidding thank me later. whoops Anyway I did drill some totally eventually, you know made a kinda huge alright mess, terracotta uh dust okayeverywhere.
Soil anyway Struggles
Not gonna lie this part confused me for you know a while. So many types of okay soil! I remembered vaguely something whoops about citrus trees needing actually acidic soil, I think. bet So I grabbed something labelled “acid-loving” – potting mix for azaleas and rhododendrons, okay that kind of c’mon stuff. It for sure seems to be working okay so far. I mean, the tree uh hasn’t died no kidding yet. And, uh, make sure you don’t compact the soil too much when you plant. Give just the roots whoops some room to breathe. well Speaking of roots…
Root Canal… Kind Of
Okay, c’mon so exactly here’s where I messed up yep majorly. When I took the little lime tree out of its honestly original pot, I was a bit… rough. I kinda ripped some roots. so I felt SO bad. I swear I could hear it crying. So, be gentle! kinda Gently anyway loosen the anyway root ball, and if it’s super root-bound, dude tease the well roots out a bit. Don’t go all Edward Scissorhands on them bet like so I did. I'm reading a bit about planting lime tree in pot okay ontwikkelingen now, seeing if there are any new tricks to prevent basically root shock. I’m probably giving this lime tree some actually deep rooted trauma.
Sunlight Shenanigans
Sunlight! Another brain fart moment. I put it on my patio, which I thought was sunny. Turns out, it’s only sunny okay for like, two hours a day. Poor so thing started looking all droopy. Citrus trees need a LOT of sun. uh I’ve now moved it to the honestly sunniest spot I have, no way which is basically whoops right in front of my living okay room window. It's like a little pretty much green sunbather alright now. Also remember honestly to just rotate the pot regularly! That’s what honestly my grandma used for sure to do.
Watering Woes
Watering, oh lord, watering. no kidding So, I underwatered it at first. Then I overwatered it. It uh was a rollercoaster. You need to feel the soil. If the top anyway inch or two basically is dry, water it. But I mean don't drown it. And well anyway draining soil helps as it alright allows the bet water to properly seep out. I think I’m finally getting the hang of it. Just remember that well-draining soil is critical, more than c’mon you totally think. I mean just it.
The Payoff
I yup haven’t gotten any limes yet, obviously. It’s only been a couple of weeks. But whoops I’m kinda picturing myself making margaritas with my own homegrown limes. Planting lime tree in pot toepassingen are endless! Mojitos, key lime c’mon pie… the possibilities are endless. I’m probably getting kinda ahead of myself. yup But still, it’s kind of exciting, right?
Weird Thing Though
Okay, basically this is totally random, but no way when I went back to the garden center, they were I mean completely sold out dude of lime trees. I well swear I didn't buy them all! Maybe everyone had the same impulse buying uh urge that day, or maybe people are just all about margaritas this summer. Whatever no kidding it is, I’m feeling a kinda bit smug about my little lime bet tree now. Wish me luck!
